HSE has gradually begun transitioning payment of scholarships to VTB 24 cards. Cards will initially be issued to first-year Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s students. Scholarship payments for first-year students will be transferred only to VTB 24 cards.

Members of HSE’s Extreme Sports Club again reached the top of Russia and Europe’s highest peak on Mount Elbrus in August of this year. All participants in this ascent received the title of ‘Alpinist of Russia’. Below we present a diary of their trip, covering such topics as a thunderous snowstorm during their ascent, eating lunch at Yury Vizbor’s favorite café and much more. 

At the end of August, all freshly enrolled HSE students will get HSE e-mail addresses. They will be able to get their addresses at their initial meetings with programme office staff*. We’d like to inform you more about the opportunities that come along with HSE e-mail.

Second-year students on the History BA programme at HSE Perm have gone on an archaeological expedition as part of their internship. This year, HSE students have joined geology students from Oxford University on an excavation at Mokinski burial grounds.

On May 16-18 the first annual BRICS conference focusing on the interaction of the social sciences were held in National Research University Higher School of Economics.

From May 30 to June 19 students can vote for HSE’s best teachers of the academic year. This year there is no need to come to the university to vote. Students and alumni can submit their scores online via LMS.

HSE’s volunteer organisation, which is made up of student ‘buddies’ who help foreign students adapt to life in Russia, has become a part of the Erasmus Student Network.

The Higher School of Economics began compiling a full catalogue of student theses in 2013. The catalogue can now be accessed on the university’s website.

Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation MA programme at theInstitute for Statistical Studies and the Economics of Knowledge is open to anyone interested in learning how to commercialize scientific developments. First and second year students talk about their reasons for choosing the programme and their studies.

On April 2^nd and 3^rd, the Higher School of Economics held this year’s international student parliamentary debate tournament, HSE Open 2016. The tournament was a way for one American professor to get to know Russia, and the competition showed that students are capable of turning the art of debate into a real live performance. Not only do the students have excellent English, but they also think in a different language when it comes to politics and economics.
