Mission of the Support and Career Centre for International Students and Alumni

Extracurricular support for international students at HSE University

The Centre provides support on issues that are beyond the responsibilities of academic departments. For example, we tell you how to get student documents (e-pass, Moscow social card, etc.), purchase for a medical insurance policy or get help from a volunteer buddy. 

Development of information resources for international students of the HSE University

We develop social networks for international students and alumni in Russian and English, and support the work of the portal istudents.hse.ru. 

Organising events for international students and alumni of HSE University

Every year, we organise many events aimed at integrating international students into the university community and familiarising them with the national traditions of Russia and other countries. Among our events are the HSE Inter Football Cup, HSE is the World festival, Maslenitsa and Russian Culture Day

Employment assistance and information support for international alumni of HSE University

We consult students and HR managers of companies on how to employ international students.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Centre advise on issues related to the educational process (timetable, exam retakes, change of group, etc.)?

No, our Centre provides only extracurricular support for international students. For academic issues, please contact your study office.

Does the Centre help students to start their own club or organise an event?

Yes, we do! Send your ideas to istudents.support@hse.ru or come to our D626 office at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar.

Will the Centre tell how to issue a Moscow social card, e-pass or other student document?

Of course! First we recommend to check our website to learn more about documents and other services. If you still have questions, send your enquiry to istudents.support@hse.ru or come to our D626 office at 11 Pokrovsky Boulevard.

Do we provide career counselling for international students?

Our Centre advises on how a foreigner can legally find a job in Russia. And if you need a CV frying or individual career counselling, contact the Career Development Centre.

Wang Yali has been interested in Russian language and politics since her time as an undergraduate at Peking University. After graduating with a degree in Asian and African Languages and Literatures and a second degree in International Relations, she pursued a Master’s in International Relations at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at HSE University–Moscow. She is now pursuing a PhD at the Doctoral School of Political Science, examining Russian narratives of ‘East,’ ‘West,’ and its own place among them.

Gabriella Leelee Enchill is a third-year student at the HSE University Doctoral School of Sociology. She has a bachelor’s in Integrated Community Development from the University for Development Studies in her native Ghana and a master’s in Population and Development from HSE University. Her current research focuses on gender inequality in rural Ghanaian communities. Gabriella spoke to the HSE News Service about what her studies have uncovered about inequality in the region, how women can gain agency by banding together, and why studying these communities helps empower women around the world.
