This autumn, students from the United States came to study at HSE University - Saint Petersburg via CIEE (non-profit study abroad organization) to learn more about Russian culture, history, and people. Three participants of the programme told us about their exchange experience, studying Russian culture, and favourite things about Saint Petersburg.
The New Year is a time for making plans and adopting new resolutions. We have talked to HSE students and staff members about the events they are most looking forward to in the coming year, 2020, and about their wishes and hopes for the new year.
HSE Study Tour Experience welcomes applications from third- and fourth-year undergraduate students who wish to learn more about HSE University and its Master’s programme offerings. The programme duration is from January 27 to February 9, 2020 at HSE University Moscow. The deadline to apply is December 30, 2019.
At last week’s Golden HSE Award Ceremony, the winners of the Silver Nestling Award included two international students: Yunying Pei (China) of the Dual Bachelor’s Programme in Data Science and Business Analytics, and Juan Sota (Spain) of the Master’s Programme in Medieval Studies. HSE News Service spoke to the two students about their courses, speaking Russian, and the reactions their families and friends had when they told them they won the Silver Nestling Award.

International students come to HSE University for a variety of reasons—to experience a new culture, take interesting classes, learn Russian, or simply try something completely different. There are numerous services for international students to help ease their transition into Moscow life. One of them is the HSE Buddy System, which matches international students (both full-degree and exchange) with local 'Buddies' to help them with bureaucratic and other practical tasks.
Have you ever been to Africa? We can definitely say that we have! Great thanks to our ESN international student Robier Victor, who prepared an amazing program of the short trip to magnificent Egypt.
Feeling the itch to travel? Our second Culture Café was devoted to the beautiful French-speaking Canadian province, Québec. At this session, we got to see what life is like on a different continent.
