Thuy Tien Huynh, a 21-year-old from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has long been interested in Russian language and culture, classic Russian literary works, movies, and music from the Soviet era. While searching for opportunities to study abroad in Russia as a student in the faculty of Russian Linguistics and Literature at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam, she came across information on the HSE International Olympiad and decided to give it a shot.

Aditi Koomar and Shreyak Tare are exchange students from Indian Institute of Management Raipur, a partner university of HSE-Nizhny Novgorod. They are pursuing a Master's degree in Management with a major in Marketing and Human Resource. They have come from Kerala, a southern Indian state, to Nizhny Novgorod for three months to study Brand Management and Marketing of Innovations at the Faculty of Management. Sara Olmi of International Students’ Club has talked to Aditi and Shreyak about their impressions and exchange experience.

On the eve of the Victory Day volunteers of the Open Your Eyes student project will be organizing a visit to the nursing home in Klin. They will put on a concert and give small presents, balloons, flowers as well as care, sincere wishes  and festive mood to the veterans.

The award ceremony for the ‘Iron Egg’ Student Award, which has recognized the projects that HSE students consider the most relevant and outstanding for 14 years, will be held at the end of the current academic year. Students will get a chance to vote online, first to nominate, and then select the winners.

Alex Christiansen, a student from Utah Valley University (UVU), came to HSE - Nizhny Novgorod this winter to study Russian. International Students’ Club leader, Sara Olmi, interviewed Alex to find out about how he ended up at HSE, as well as his impressions of the city and the university.

Bienvenue en France! We are glad to present you an article which is related to our Culture Café: France, held on the 21st of March. But firstly, we would like to thank our dear students Valentin Maillet and Camille Cros who perfectly prepared their presentation and managed to capture our hearts by telling about this romantic and charming country - France.

For Yiğit Tahmisoğlu, Süleyman Saltoğlu and Ekimhan Can – students from Istanbul Bilgi University – the opportunity to study in the HSE and University of London Double Degree Bachelor’s Programme in Economics  has meant facing a number of challenges while simultaneously benefiting greatly from what the programme has to offer.

What is the first association that appears in your mind when you hear “Vietnam”? Probably, you will say something like “Oh, it’s the country where that war took place”. Of course, this horrifying war actually happened there with a lot of terrible consequences as a result, but Vietnam is such a fantastic country with overwhelming landscapes and rich culture that everyone should know more about it.
Thanks to Giang Dinh, Khanh Huyen, Ngoc Quynh and Kieu Mi, we managed to dispel some myths and break some stereotypes related to Vietnam!

Our Culture Café: Italy held on the 21st of February was attended by many international students who created an amazing atmosphere, so we dived into Italian culture more than we could even imagine. The presentation was prepared by HSE Exchange Students: Nicola Calvano, Nicola Simone, Michela Montagna, Martina Zama, Sofia Bineri, Gianmarco Donolato, Fabiola Furnari, Luca Bazzoni, Francesca Miuli, Federica Toninello, Serena Barone, and Olivia Genovesi. Neeraj Mazumder, a native of India, is a first-year student in the Master’s programme Prototyping Future Cities offered by HSE’s Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism. He received his Bachelor’s in Architecture from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University in Hyderabad and came to Moscow to study how cities can be analyzed and smart cities designed.
