International Student Support and ESN HSE Moscow are happy to tell you about our second trip on October 4! This time our Culture Café was dedicated to beautiful and fascinating India.

Sheila Pattle, doctoral student at Durham University, speaks about her work at the State Archive of Perm Region, her love for Russian culture and the things that impressed her in Perm.

HSE has campuses in four cities, and HSE St. Petersburg opened five years after the main campus, in 1997. It has over 4200 students, over 300 faculty members and 100 researchers who focus on different frontline issues in economics, business, humanities, law and social sciences. Sergey Kadochnikov, Director of HSE in St. Petersburg told The HSE Look about what the university has achieved, about its international and domestic partners as well as its development plans.

For Hoang Thanh Tung, who recently earned his bachelor’s degree at the Institute of International Languages - Vietnam National University, the decision to pursue a Master’s degree in the Faculty of Business and Management at HSE is in some ways a homecoming. Although coming most recently from Hanoi, Vietnam, he was born in Russia and spent much of his time growing up in the country, living with his parents in both Moscow and Ufa.

Are you keen on exploring other cultures? Is learning your constant state of mind? Or do you enjoy chatting with friends? Then Culture Cafés are just what you need! After meeting the newcoming students and seeing their bright inspired (however, a little bit frightened) eyes, it has been decided that the whole new season of Culture Cafés has to start. On September 12-15, HSE took part in the 29th Annual Conference of the European Association of International Education, which was held this year in Seville, Spain. As a part of Study in Russia, a joint exhibition pavilion organized by the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100, HSE held over 90 meetings with current and potential partners to discuss student mobility and other cooperation opportunities.

HSE has started distributing bank cards to its first-year students. If you are an international student on a Russian govenment scholarship (quota) you are eligible for such a card. On September 22, the first scholarships will be transferred via these cards. The schedule for the distribution of bank cards is presented below.

A traditional autumn camping weekend organized by the HSE Extreme Sports Club will take place on September 23 and 24. The event is open not only to HSE students and staff, but for backpacking lovers from other universities as well.

On September 14, the Higher School of Economics celebrated its main holiday, HSE Day, for the sixth time. Not only HSE students and staff, but anyone living in Moscow could enjoy the event.
