Alex Christiansen, a student from Utah Valley University (UVU), came to HSE - Nizhny Novgorod this winter to study Russian. International Students’ Club leader, Sara Olmi, interviewed Alex to find out about how he ended up at HSE, as well as his impressions of the city and the university.

For Yiğit Tahmisoğlu, Süleyman Saltoğlu and Ekimhan Can – students from Istanbul Bilgi University – the opportunity to study in the HSE and University of London Double Degree Bachelor’s Programme in Economics has meant facing a number of challenges while simultaneously benefiting greatly from what the programme has to offer.

Neeraj Mazumder, a native of India, is a first-year student in the Master’s programme Prototyping Future Cities offered by HSE’s Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism. He received his Bachelor’s in Architecture from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University in Hyderabad and came to Moscow to study how cities can be analyzed and smart cities designed.
Our Culture Café: Italy held on the 21st of February was attended by many international students who created an amazing atmosphere, so we dived into Italian culture more than we could even imagine. Zhang Caiyu is a Master’s student at HSE – St. Petersburg. Originally from China, Zhang Caiyu moved to Kiev, Ukraine as a Bachelor’s student, where she majored in the Russian language. Of course, it then made total sense to continue her education here in Russia. She is now a student in HSE’s 'Experience Economy: Hospitality and Tourism Management' programme. Ashish Kumar Singh hails from a place called Raebareli, a city of about 3,000,000 people located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He recently joined the doctoral programme in Political Science at HSE, a decision he says was motivated by discussions he had with a professor from HSE who was visiting the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in New Delhi
