Alex Christiansen, a student from Utah Valley University (UVU), came to HSE - Nizhny Novgorod this winter to study Russian. International Students’ Club leader, Sara Olmi, interviewed Alex to find out about how he ended up at HSE, as well as his impressions of the city and the university.

Bienvenue en France! We are glad to present you an article which is related to our Culture Café: France, held on the 21st of March. But firstly, we would like to thank our dear students Valentin Maillet and Camille Cros who perfectly prepared their presentation and managed to capture our hearts by telling about this romantic and charming country - France.

For Yiğit Tahmisoğlu, Süleyman Saltoğlu and Ekimhan Can – students from Istanbul Bilgi University – the opportunity to study in the HSE and University of London Double Degree Bachelor’s Programme in Economics  has meant facing a number of challenges while simultaneously benefiting greatly from what the programme has to offer.

What is the first association that appears in your mind when you hear “Vietnam”? Probably, you will say something like “Oh, it’s the country where that war took place”. Of course, this horrifying war actually happened there with a lot of terrible consequences as a result, but Vietnam is such a fantastic country with overwhelming landscapes and rich culture that everyone should know more about it.
Thanks to Giang Dinh, Khanh Huyen, Ngoc Quynh and Kieu Mi, we managed to dispel some myths and break some stereotypes related to Vietnam!

Neeraj Mazumder, a native of India, is a first-year student in the Master’s programme Prototyping Future Cities offered by HSE’s Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism. He received his Bachelor’s in Architecture from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University in Hyderabad and came to Moscow to study how cities can be analyzed and smart cities designed.

Our Culture Café: Italy held on the 21st of February was attended by many international students who created an amazing atmosphere, so we dived into Italian culture more than we could even imagine. The presentation was prepared by HSE Exchange Students: Nicola Calvano, Nicola Simone, Michela Montagna, Martina Zama, Sofia Bineri, Gianmarco Donolato, Fabiola Furnari, Luca Bazzoni, Francesca Miuli, Federica Toninello, Serena Barone, and Olivia Genovesi. Zhang Caiyu is a Master’s student at HSE – St. Petersburg. Originally from China, Zhang Caiyu moved to Kiev, Ukraine as a Bachelor’s student, where she majored in the Russian language. Of course, it then made total sense to continue her education here in Russia. She is now a student in HSE’s 'Experience Economy: Hospitality and Tourism Management' programme. Here are her impressions of the university, the people, and the beautiful city of St. Petersburg.

We sat down to talk to Jatin Garg, our international student from India, about his decision to apply for the Global Business master's programme, what the process was like and where he expects to end up after graduation.

Ashish Kumar Singh hails from a place called Raebareli, a city of about 3,000,000 people located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He recently joined the doctoral programme in Political Science at HSE, a decision he says was motivated by discussions he had with a professor from HSE who was visiting the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in New Delhi

A good day starts with a good deed! From February 28 to March 2, ‘Open Your Eyes’, an HSE charity project, will be collecting items for elderly people at a nursing home in Klin.
