The new academic year has kicked off at HSE University. Rector Nikita Anisimov greeted the students, staff and particularly new arrivals on Knowledge Day—September 1, which, as he emphasised, symbolises the beginning of a new journey and new achievements.

The ICEF Summer Bridge School prepares students from various countries and universities for their master’s studies. It is a short-term summer programme for students of bachelor’s and master’s programmes who are planning to apply to the Master’s in Financial Economics at ICEF and similar master’s programmes at other universities in the coming year. The participants of this year’s School included students from Uzbekistan, Russia, Ghana, Azerbaijan, Italy, Armenia, Nigeria, China, Turkey, and others.

International students are beginning to arrive at HSE University for the new academic year. Among them are students from Indonesia. Some of them even had a chance to take their parents on a tour of the campus. How does one become an HSE University student? What do the university’s venues have to offer? The admission campaign for the fully online Master of Finance programme is underway. The programme is affiliated with CFA Institute (USA), an international organisation that confers one of the most authoritative titles in the field of finance and investment: Chartered Financial Analyst. Kyung Se Park from Seoul, student of the online Master of Finance programme and co-founder of the LUOES Cosmetics Company, shared his learning experience with the HSE News Service.

Throughout July, students of the HSE International Summer University are studying Russian History and Behavioural Economics. The courses are taking place in an online format—something that seemed unthinkable for a summer programme before the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent years have shown that online learning is a unique opportunity for students from all over the world to study with leading HSE University professors from the comfort of their own homes.

The team of the HSE International Preparatory Year said goodbye to its students at a graduation party that took place at the HSE Cultural Centre. 197 students from 58 countries graduated from the programme this year. They learned Russian and profile subjects in Russian, which has helped over 100 of them to enrol in degree programmes at HSE University.
