Fernanda Florido-Calvo came to HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod from Chile to study mathematics. While on her two-year Master of Science in Mathematics programme, she wrote her master’s thesis and presented it at the All-Russia Contest of Diploma Thesis of Russian Mathematicians 2021, where she won two awards with full marks. Fernanda spoke to the HSE News Service about her passion for mathematics and the paths that lead to HSE University.

The results of the 2021/22 international admissions campaign were presented at the recent meeting of the HSE University Academic Council. Despite the COVID-19 restrictions, 2,055 students from 156 countries enrolled this year at HSE University.

Stephen Deduck, from New Jersey, USA, enrolled at HSE University after spending a study-abroad semester in St. Petersburg. He received his Master’s in International Business in 2020 and is now working in an international office of an American university to help other students interested in studying abroad. Stephen spoke to us about the content of the master’s programme, the benefits of learning Russian, and why HSE University is a great choice for international students.

HSE University welcomes applicants from all over the world. The university offers online and on-campus study programmes at different levels, with instruction in English and Russian. International applicants can apply for graduate and undergraduate programmes until August 15 (11:59 pm Moscow time) and may be eligible for partial scholarships.

The majority of foreign students at HSE University feel at home, are happy with their study experience and would apply here again if given the choice. They would also recommend HSEUniversity to others. These are the results of a survey of international students published in the latest edition of the That's So HSE newsletter.

International applications to HSE University are open until August 10 for graduate programmes and August 15 for undergraduate programmes. Every year, the university attracts a large number of international students to its Russian and English-taught programmes. HSE News Service spoke to a student currently enrolled at HSE University and a recent graduate about their experiences and impressions.

Parisa Esmaeilkhani, from Iran, and Anshuman Sharma, from India, are currently studying in HSE University’s English-taught Master’s programmes. In an interview with HSE News Service, they talked about enrolling at HSE University, discovering Moscow, learning Russian, exploring the opportunities HSE University offers, and studying remotely during the pandemic.

HSE University’s online Master of Data Science programme trains specialists in contemporary data analysis, machine learning development, and research. The applications are accepted until July 19. Students of the programme hail from over 30 countries including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, the USA, Canada, China, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, and Switzerland. Mehmet Namli (UAE) and Alexander Olekhnovich (Russia) spoke about how they decided to become part of the global data scientist community and shared their impressions of studying remotely at HSE University.

Enrolment is underway for the HSE Institute of Education’s new Master's programme, Science of Learning and Assessment, which was developed at the intersection of developmental science, advanced methods of neuroscience and psychometrics, and the theory and practice of testing and measurement. Students will learn to assess human development and adjust the learning process, relying on evidence-based approaches of neuroscience and current concepts of measuring skills, personality characteristics, competencies, and other complex constructs.

International students can submit their applications to HSE University’s Master’s programmes until August 10. Jack Miles, from the UK, and Agustin Lira, from Chile, have already been enrolled in Master’s programmes and will begin their studies in September 2021.
