On June 24, HSE University held an opening ceremony for its International Summer University. Newly arrived students from 32 countries around the globe including Germany, the US, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and others were welcomed by First Vice Rector Vadim Radaev and Vice Rector Ivan Prostakov.
Inspired by her exchange experience in Moscow during her undergraduate studies, French student Marion Jacquart decided to do her Master’s at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in Paris because it has a double degree agreement with HSE University. As she finishes her programme in Comparative Social Research in Moscow, where she has been based for the last year doing research for her Master’s thesis on feminism, she shared her experience and impressions with the HSE News Service.
Emilie Flamme is a third-year student at Amherst College (USA), where she is a double major in Architecture Studies and Russian. She just completed a semester at HSE Moscow, during which she took Russian language and content courses. HSE News Service caught up with Émilie to talk about her studies at HSE, her thesis, and her life in Moscow.
Leora Eisenberg recently completed a semester at HSE as part of the ‘Middlebury in Moscow’ programme run by Middlebury College in Vermont. Although she had grown up speaking Russian, getting used to Moscow didn’t come easily, at least at first but she came to truly enjoy her experience here.
Organized by the Extreme Sports Club, HSE Camping Weekend is a great chance to spend two days out of the city, meet a large number of Russian students, and enjoy the beauty of the countryside. HSE students who are interested in moving from a dorm to an apartment can obtain financial support from the university. For the 2019/2020 academic year, HSE students who live in a dorm will be offered 1,350 monthly reimbursements amounting to RUB 10,000.
