On September 8, 2016, HSE DAY took place in Gorky Park for the fifth time. This is a festival that allows everyone to have a good time in a joyful atmosphere. In the following article, we will tell you all about it.

Students from more than 20 countries and almost 200 international staff members currently study and work at HSE. With this in mind, HSE Day in Gorky Park will offer a platform for intercultural communication in the most varied of fields, from music to breaking stereotypes about certain countries and cultures. Here, international students will take the lead, and you’ll be able to learn about various cultures first-hand.

The special HSE Day will demonstrate real science to its guests at the ‘Science and Technology’ platform. The achievements will be showcased by HSE MIEM, the School of Psychology, and HSE Lab (HSE Prototyping Centre). They will answer the trickiest questions put by the geeks. You’ll be able to get hands on and investigate the technological achievements on display and even test them yourself.

In December, HSE is holding Gifts of Kindness Days in the lead up to the New Year’s holiday. It’s an opportunity for HSE colleagues and students and friends of the university to bring some New Year’s cheer to those in need of help and support.

Hamid Ait El Ceid moved to Moscow from Morocco a year ago to study in English-taught Master’s programme Political Analysis and Public Policy. Since arriving, he has learned about what it’s like to build the bridges between two completely different cultures.

The 24^th HSE Open Tourist Rally has taken place in the Moscow region. It attracted students from different university campuses, as well as graduates with families, doctoral students, lecturers, and HSE friends from other Moscow universities.

Alessandra Marabini and Francesca Di Furia are Italian exchange students living in Nizhny Novgorod. They are from University of Bergamo and have come to HSE on an exchange semester to study Economics and Russian Language. Both of them have been to Russia before so they are not fazed by the unfamiliar things they see going on around them. Nevertheless, as they tell us below, something new and surprising seems to happen to them everyday. The things that struck them most during their month in Nizhny Novgorod are public transport and the old houses.  

It’s become fashionable to take an interest in science and research, and there are lots of researchers and academics at HSE who do in addition to carrying out research are gifted enough to be able to explain it in an engaging way to other people.
