Prospective international undergraduate students who submit certificates in English language and math will have them considered in their applications to study at HSE. This opportunity will be made available to applicants for fee-paying slots as part of a special competition for foreign citizens. All the details are below.

Master’s programme in Governance of Science, Technology and Innovations is among HSE’s numerous English-taught programmes that are open to international students who can enrol full-time or take a semester or two as part of a study-abroad experience. HSE News Service has talked to some of the programme’s students about their decision to apply to HSE and their studies.

In 2019, HSE is launching a new master's programme in Russian Studies that will be taught in English. Admissions for international students have already started. Boris Makarenko, the programme’s Academic Supervisor, spoke with the HSE News Service about the features of the new programme.

International admissions for HSE’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes are now open. This year, HSE is inviting applications for 52 Bachelor’s and 166 Master’s programmes across its four campuses. A number of programmes are taught in English and offer double-degree opportunities. International students can apply online. Early applications may be eligible for scholarships and tuition fee waivers.

Thuy Tien Huynh, a 21-year-old from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, has long been interested in Russian language and culture, classic Russian literary works, movies, and music from the Soviet era. While searching for opportunities to study abroad in Russia as a student in the faculty of Russian Linguistics and Literature at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam, she came across information on the HSE International Olympiad and decided to give it a shot.

Matthew Boadi-Ampong from Ghana is a first-year student of Master’s programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy. He has shared his impressions of studying at HSE and living in Russia.

Admissions to tuition-free doctoral studies at HSE open on February 01, 2018. International students can choose from 15 PhD programmes in fields ranging from Mathematics to Art and Design. The programmes are offered at HSE campuses in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Nizhny Novgorod. It is not necessary to speak Russian in order to pursue a PhD at HSE – the thesis can be written in English. Several international students are already pursuing doctoral degrees at HSE and one of them, Keunwon Choi from South Korea, has shared his impressions with us.

Master’s programme in Governance of Science, Technology, and Innovation has been offered by HSE ISSEK since 2014. It helps students acquire knowledge about science, technology and innovation management and policy. Below, Dirk Meissner, Academic Supervisor of the programme, talks about its key features and development. Besides, first and second-year international students describe their reasons for enrolling in the programme and share their experience of studying at HSE.

Registration is now open for the Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project, Russia’s first competition for international students applying to Master’s programmes. With registration open until January 15, 2018, the competition consists of two remote stages: a portfolio contest and an online contest. The first stage will take place from December 1 to January 15.

On November 15, international student admissions for undergraduate and Master’s programmes opened. This year, prospective students can apply to two programmes simultaneously. They’ll be able to track the application process online in their personal profile on the HSE website where they will receive notifications on the stages of their application’s review and decisions by the admissions committee.
