Culture Café: Israel

Israel is a very young country, just 70 years old, but with a very rich history, going all the way back to Biblical times. Of course, all of that is hard to put into a three-hour presentation but HSE Jews Club together with our Israeli students tried to do just that on our last Culture Café dedicated to Israel. And right now, we would try to pass on at least parts of all that information off to you.

HSE's Advent Calendar

An advent calendar with gifts is usually seen as a source of entertainment for children, but away with conventions. Everyone loves to receive presents, but HSE loves to give them. Each day between December 1st and 24th, the windows of a virtual calendar will display links to some of HSE’s most interesting courses, lectures, and events set to take place soon, as well as recordings from past events. The result will be 24 presents for absolutely everyone to enjoy.

Culture Café: Germany

How well do you think you know Germany, its culture and history? Are Germans really that punctual and strict as stereotypes let us to believe? What to do and what to see when you found yourself in this country? We know all the answers to all of these questions thanks to the insights provided for us by our German students at our last Culture Café.

Culture Café: The United Kingdom

How do you do? Greeting you in true English way because we learned how to do that thanks to our wonderful British students who transported us to their homeland for a couple of hours. We, of course, talking about our second Culture Café of the semester which was dedicated to the United Kingdom. Let’s dive into what we learned.

Сulture Café: Money for Good

Once a semester we make something unusual! Our simple (but very dear to heart) Culture Café turns into a strong discussion not about one or several countries and their beautiful unique cultures, but about the issues that can be shared by massive number of people, by the whole globe.

Culture Café: Ukraine, Belarus and Bulgaria

Culture Café: Ukraine, Belarus and Bulgaria
April 4, 2018 – what happened on this day, and why did we decide to mention it here?
You guessed it – our latest Culture Café. This one was a little unusual. We had 3 countries in one go! Ukraine, Belarus and Bulgaria – 3 trips, 3 amazing countries, so different but so similar. We want to thank all the students who took part in creating such awesome presentations about their countries: Anastasia Ozerova (Ukraine), Anna Baranova (Belarus), Adrian Stefanov, Kristina Todorova and Margaret Alexandrova (Bulgaria).

Culture Café: France

Bienvenue en France! We are glad to present you an article which is related to our Culture Café: France, held on the 21st of March. But firstly, we would like to thank our dear students Valentin Maillet and Camille Cros who perfectly prepared their presentation and managed to capture our hearts by telling about this romantic and charming country - France.

Culture Café: Vietnam

What is the first association that appears in your mind when you hear “Vietnam”? Probably, you will say something like “Oh, it’s the country where that war took place”. Of course, this horrifying war actually happened there with a lot of terrible consequences as a result, but Vietnam is such a fantastic country with overwhelming landscapes and rich culture that everyone should know more about it.
Thanks to Giang Dinh, Khanh Huyen, Ngoc Quynh and Kieu Mi, we managed to dispel some myths and break some stereotypes related to Vietnam!

Culture Café: Italy

Tiramisù, pasta, alla bolognese, and pizza. Guess you all have thoughts about Italy, and you are right!
Our Culture Café: Italy held on the 21st of February was attended by many international students who created an amazing atmosphere, so we dived into Italian culture more than we could even imagine. The presentation was prepared by HSE Exchange Students: Nicola Calvano, Nicola Simone, Michela Montagna, Martina Zama, Sofia Bineri, Gianmarco Donolato, Fabiola Furnari, Luca Bazzoni, Francesca Miuli, Federica Toninello, Serena Barone, and Olivia Genovesi. We are so thankful to you!

Culture Café: Georgia

Why did we gather so many students after exhaustive, sometimes boring classes in one place? Culture Café: Georgia, held on the 7th of February, without a doubt was the most attended CC (ESN HSE Moscow hopes that this fact will inspire other students to present their countries as well). It was prepared by HSE exchange student Beso Shengelia and his Georgian friends. They did everything possible to show the beauty of this fantastic ancient country, Georgia! What is more, we are grateful to HSE students especially from the Chamber of Nationalities, specifically Maggie Sulkhanishvili, for taking part in our event.
