Request a Buddy
🤝 Who is Buddy?
Buddies are [mainly] Russian students currently studying at HSE University, who are voluntarily helping international incoming students to get accustomed to life in Moscow and feel more confident in a new cultural and social environment through assisting them in their basic needs. You meet your buddy upon your arrival or can request their help any time throughout your stay.
📣 How to request a Buddy?
When you know your exact arrival date, please fill in this form to request a buddy. The ISN team will do their best to find a volunteer to help you. We highly recommend you to provide more detailde information about yourself in the registration form as it increases your chances of getting a local buddy. You can contact the ISN team at buddy@hse.ru for the questions concerning the Buddy programme.
✅ What can Buddy help with?
- Meet you at the Aeroexpress terminal (not the airport!)
- Accompany you to your dormitory and help you with the check-in
- Provide you with general hands-on experience (campus buildings, useful apps, emergency phone numbers, etc)
- Help with documents and forms in Russian
- Recommend interesting places and events in the city
- Direct you to the person in charge in case your question requires the involvement of the university administration.
🚫 What can't Buddy help with?
- Help you during the night hours (from 9pm to 8am)
- Become your full-time personal assistant (respect their personal time and space!)
- Provide any financial support
🙋 How to become a Buddy?
To become a buddy, you can also contact the Buddy Coordinator via buddy@hsemsk.esnrussia.org. Also keep an eye on the ISN social media for updates, they do recruitment several times a year!
