Culture Café: Italy, 08.02.2023

On 8 February, 2023 Italian HSE students invited us to a Culture Café about their home country. We started off with a quick quiz. Although we all now a lot about Italy and many of us have travelled there, our Italian friends managed to surprise us with a few fun facts we did not know.

It was especially interesting to find out more about Italian food. It is not only pizza and pasta! Every Italian region boasts its signature dish and our mouths were watering when we were looking at the photos of all the delicious pastry available in Italian bakeries. Our presenters shared some secret recipes from their Italian grannies and we can't wait to try them out.

We also talked about the rivalry between the North and the South and stereotypes that the Italians have about people who live in different regions of the country.

Inspired by the event and to follow up on the topics we touched upon, we picked a film to watch together at our next ISN Movie Night -  ‘Benvenuti al Sud!’ - an Italian comedy film about a postal worker from Northern Italy sent to a tiny village near Naples for two years.
